Barbuda

It was Christian ( fisherman from St.Barths who attended the Sports Fishing Tournament) inspired this post, in his own words..”after the great time we had @ the tournament, we spent a very cool day in Barbuda yesterday with all the St-Barths guys, having a cool bbq with grilled mahi-mahi and some rose wine, you imagine….”

I can imagine …..Rewinding to last year June, Seumas flew back to Antigua for 3 weeks after the Atlantic Delivery on Velsheda. We decided to have a quiet getaway in Barbuda for my birthday. Can’t believe that was almost a year ago..where does the time go? With so many scheduled beaches to choose from, we walked for miles without a person in sight. Barbuda to me, is the true meaning of Paradise, it’s you and the sand between your toes. We stayed at North Beach Cottages on the Northern side of the island where Ruben did a great job of looking after us.

So today, i plugged in the external hard drive from 2009 and decided to share with you our June trip to Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda.

Southern Coast

Vanessa…loving the water. Great shot by Seumas… we spent the day at a private beach in Five Islands, Antigua before adventuring off to Barbuda.

Some of the many beaches ….and the only person, is you.

My Uncles were camping on a catamaran for 10 days. We popped in for a visit before heading to North Beach

A beach for us, perfect!

Very flat terrain

Vanessa’s lobster catch while Seumas read his book..lol….just messing. From memory this was dinner at the camp.

The prettiest part of barbuda, North Side.

The turquoise waters glow in the background.

Antigua and Barbuda Sports Fishing Tournament

Posted on Monday, May 24th, 2010

As a kid I remember tagging along foot and foot behind my dad on many fishing adventures. Growing up my mother didn’t drive ( and to this day still doesn’t) They were many Sundays when we ( my siblings and I ) were stuck at home while Dad went fishing. I quickly realized learning to fish was the answer for a sunday outing!! :) You could say that’s how i got into fishing at such a young age. Last year I won Champion Female in the Marlin Division releasing 2 Blue Marlin and 1 White Marlin. This year I took the spectators view and didn’t fish. Just a few quick snaps of what the weekend was about and congrats to all who won.

Fort Berkeley overlooks the entrance to Nelson Dockyard. Good spot for boat watching.

Antigua Slipway and to the right Johnny Coconuts ( very good pizza ) and Catherines Cafe.

Finally, it’s vanessa…on the blog. figuring out the self portrait technique. Next time smile!

Waiting for the fishing boats.
