Antigua and Barbuda in pictures

Posted on Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

My favourite shots from a recent editorial photoshoot. I’m proud to have these photos in my portfolio. Antigua is stunning! we have so much to cherish, our birds, beaches, dolphins, reefs, whales, mangrove systems, historical sites and the list goes on. Protect what we have. When it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

Don’t be frightened of the large tail ..it’s NOT a shark but a diving dolphin. :) I thoroughly enjoyed this project and hope more editorial work comes my way.

Sailing from Athens to Venice

Posted on Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Sorry I haven’t posted in sometime, Seumas and I hopped on Aiyana, a new 82ft Warwick as delivery crew. We sailed from Athens through the Corinth Canal, up the Adriatic, through the Croatian islands and onto Venice. Had to share this shot!! We watched a pod of dolphins swimming off the bow, will post more shortly, but for now, i’m catching up on emails etc.

August 2010, the magazine is out. Can’t believe it! I was mentioned and 2 photos were used in the published article…woohoo!!…A small section in “Real Brides, Real Advice”, of Destination Weddings Magazine, features Carryl and Burkhard’s wedding which I photographed. They got married in May of 2009 at Villa Nicobar in Galley Heights, Antigua. So happy for the exposure no matter how small, it means the world to me. Thanks Carryl and Burkhard, you guys were so much fun to spend time with.

Here was one of the stunning shots from her trash the dress shoot.

St.Vincent and the Grenadines – we toured Union, Palm Island Resort, Mopion, Mayreau, Tobago Cays, Bequia and St.Vincent.

Seumas and I spent a few days in St.Vincent and the Grenadines, my photos along with Seumas’s travel story will be published in Grenada Air Alliance. These islands are truly beautiful!!!! If you’re thinking of getting married on Palm Island, my recommendation is choose Mopion for the ceremony, a 10 min boat ride from the resort.

Seumas relaxing with a fresh coconut – the island life!!

Tobago Cays in the distance

We love the island life…many large iguana’s to be spotted on Palm Island

Palm island has a few residential properties with great views.

Caribbean influenced interior accents

Open verandahs

The turquoise blue waters at your doorstep…not a bad spot :)

Native pet on the island

Exclusive beaches

And more than one on the island

Union island, a 10 minute ferry from Palm Island

Local produce on Union. Everything is so colourful, love it

Bequia Sweet Sweet

Many of the island’s earliest settlers and smallholders were shipwrights, seamen and carpenters, and with an abundance of indigenous White Cedar on the island, the development of boat building was a natural progression.

Hear the stories and meet the artists in Bequia.

Boat building, a unique tradition to the island

Traditions are passed down. These kids were practicing for the Bequia Sailing Festival.

Great to see the tradition lives on

Local foods

The market, the vendors are so friendly and helpful.

Barbuda

Posted on Saturday, May 29th, 2010

It was Christian ( fisherman from St.Barths who attended the Sports Fishing Tournament) inspired this post, in his own words..”after the great time we had @ the tournament, we spent a very cool day in Barbuda yesterday with all the St-Barths guys, having a cool bbq with grilled mahi-mahi and some rose wine, you imagine….”

I can imagine …..Rewinding to last year June, Seumas flew back to Antigua for 3 weeks after the Atlantic Delivery on Velsheda. We decided to have a quiet getaway in Barbuda for my birthday. Can’t believe that was almost a year ago..where does the time go? With so many scheduled beaches to choose from, we walked for miles without a person in sight. Barbuda to me, is the true meaning of Paradise, it’s you and the sand between your toes. We stayed at North Beach Cottages on the Northern side of the island where Ruben did a great job of looking after us.

So today, i plugged in the external hard drive from 2009 and decided to share with you our June trip to Antigua’s sister island, Barbuda.

Southern Coast

Vanessa…loving the water. Great shot by Seumas… we spent the day at a private beach in Five Islands, Antigua before adventuring off to Barbuda.
