James and Sam’s Clarence House Wedding. Antigua and Barbuda W.I
James grew up on the tiny island of Antigua, footsteps away from Pigeon beach and the famous Skullduggery Bar, in English Harbour. The boy from Swetes relocated to study medicine in the UK where he met the lovely and beautiful Sam. Best friends from the start and hand in hand they battled through the ups and downs of medical school. In November 2016 they booked a trip across the Atlantic to visit James family and Caribbean island home. His brother Tom and best friend Frannie were in tow to witness a magical proposal at Green Island, a private oasis on the East coast.
During the same month Prince Harry traveled to Antigua for the opening of Clarence House. This Georgian country estate was built for the Commissioner of the Dockyard in 1806 but the post was short lived. The house became the official country residence for the Governor of the Leeward Islands, and occasionally a honeymoon spot for royalty. In 2013 Peter Harrison, a yacht owner and regular visitor to the island, funded the renovation which is now part of a UNSECO World Heritage Site.
On November 29th 2017, James and Sam invited 80 of their close family and friends to Clarence House, overlooking the magnificent Naval Dockyard. It was the first wedding hosted at the Clarence House, a historic moment for James and Sam who worked really hard with management from the Copper and Lumber and National Parks.
James is a long time friend and I was honored to document their special day. I will leave you with a few memories that Marius Dragan and I made.
